Wow, it’s been a really busy weekend and I’m finally getting to write about it now!
Dad has kept me pretty relaxed and quiet all week, since I still have a staph infection. I’m on antibiotics for another week, but I’m slowly getting better. But this weekend, I did some pretty fun things! You see, dad felt bad about having to take me to the vet almost every day last week, that he surprised me with a special time with just us! Last Friday, Dad took me to breakfast at the Corner Bakery and even ordered me B-A-C-O-N!! We hung out and talked and had a great time. After that, we went for a trip to pet store and I got to pick out a bunch of stuff! It was super cool! Dad also took me over to see Nick at the Pet Supply Warehouse too!
Later that day, I got to go for a walk with my family and a couple of friends.
I’m getting so much better at walking on three legs now! Dad tells me that I still need to practice just walking. I tend to trot or run because it’s easier to balance for me. But I DID successfully lift my leg on a tree a few times this weekend!!
I’ve gotten so good at balancing, that I can even stand up in my wagon when it’s moving (not my dad’s favorite, but he lets me since I don’t jump out or anything). I walked a little more, but my dad still tells me I have to go into the wagon sometimes. Then we headed over to a nice restaurant. The humans had wine and the dogs all had yummy treats!
Dad makes sure that I get plenty of rest, lots of mental exercises/training, he takes me for at least 2 walks (and always brings my wagon just in case i get tired) a day. He’s even been cooking for me more too. Even if it takes me a little longer to walk, he never leaves me behind. Dad is always there for me. I like to sit next to him and nudge him with my nose, just to let him know that I’m always there for him too.
I miss some things that we used to do together, but my new leg is supposed to be in early next week! Hopefully my infection will be all gone and I’ll be able to use my new leg and start doing those things that I miss most! One thing’s for sure, leg or no leg, I sure am one Lucky Dog to have a dad who loves me so much. But dad tells me that he’s the lucky one .. for having a Smudge that’s changed his life forever!
